The basic function of a Head Start classroom substitute is to assist in the operation and implementation of the preschool classroom. The substitute works with the staff to ensure successful and nurturing experiences for the chldren.

The substitute will assist the staff in maintaining a safe and healthy environment; and implementing the curriculum and activities. The substitute must be able to lift approximately 45 pounds ( or a child) as needed; operate equipment/computers; and have interpersonal skills basic to working with adults and families.

The substitute teacher may serve as a bus monitor, if needed.
